Root canal therapy allows the dentist to preserve a tooth that that has become or is becoming infected. Teeth need root canal therapy for a variety of reasons including advanced decay, severe cracks, or traumatic injury.
Depending on the location of the tooth, after a root canal is completed the tooth will need a filling and usually a crown.
